Q. What should I do if I lose my library card?

Since you are responsible for everything checked-out out on your library card, the first thing you should do is notify the library that the card is lost. We will make your card inactive so that no one else can use it. Then, the next time you are in the library, you can get a new card simply by showing an ID. The fee for a replacement card is $1.00. Everything that was on your record, such as the materials you had checked out, holds you had placed, fines, etc., will move to your new card number automatically.

Q. Where can I find information on upcoming Library programs?

Our quarterly calendar of events can be picked up at any library location, at either of the Government Centers, in the parks, and at may other locations. You can also see the calendar here.

Q. Why aren't there more computers in the libraries? Why do you limit the time I can be on a computer?

Unfortunately there is no more space for additional computers and the furniture needed to support them. It is unlikely that we will ever be able to remove the time limitations during peak use hours. Our computer access is in high demand and the only way we have to meet the needs of everyone equally is to impose time limitations. Our use figures show that each computer is used by more than 2,800 patrons a year.

Q. Why are the libraries sometimes closed during and after a weather emergency?

Libraries staff, as any county staff member is responsible for manning the Resident Information Center (RIC) in an emergency. Staff are on-duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until the emergency is over and may continue to work at RIC for an extended period afterward. When it becomes impossible to keep the libraries staffed and also to take care of our RIC duties, the decision may be made to close the libraries. We are always sorry when this happens, but our duty and our privilege is to assist the citizens of Pasco who are affected by the emergency takes priority.
