Anderson Family Park at Centennial Park Library
Pasco Libraries is excited to introduce the Anderson Family Park, a new outdoor space being developed on the Centennial Park Library campus. Below are answers to some of the most common questions we're hearing about this project.
What is the Anderson Family Park project?
Anderson Family Park is a new 1.41-acre outdoor space being developed next to Centennial Park Library. This project will establish recreational and gathering areas for visitors of all ages to enjoy. The park will offer a mix of active and passive spaces, along with features that recognize the Anderson family’s history in our community.
What features will the park include?
- Amphitheatre for outdoor performances and community events
- Play areas for children
- Passive seating
- Boardwalk and pathways for enjoying the surrounding green spaces
- Historical references recognizing the Anderson family
- Parking lot expansion to better accommodate visitors
- A perimeter sidewalk and new access connection to Elkhorn Blvd
- A new book drop kiosk
Why is this park being added to the library property?
The park will enhance Centennial Park Library’s role as a welcoming place for the community to gather and connect. By adding outdoor amenities to our existing services, we’ll offer even more opportunities for everyone to explore, create, and engage.
How is the project being funded?
The Pasco County Board of Commissioners has allocated $1.5 million for this project.
What is the timeline for the park?
The project is currently moving through the design phase. We will share updates and an anticipated opening date as the project progresses.
- Design award: March 2025
- Construction begins: Summer 2026
Will there be programs or events in the park?
We’re excited about what the future holds for the Anderson Family Park! As we plan future outdoor programs and activities, we want to hear from the community the offerings and experiences you’d like to see in the new space.
Why are there fewer programs and events at Centennial Park Library right now?
As we prepare for the upcoming Anderson Family Park project, team members are focusing on planning, coordination, and logistics to support construction and future programming at alternate locations. This preparation period means there may be a reduction in programs and events at the Centennial Park location.
When will construction begin, and how will it affect library services?
Construction is expected to begin in mid-summer 2026. While no construction is happening yet, we are preparing in advance to ensure a smooth transition. Library services will continue, though some adjustments may occur once construction is underway. We will share updates as details are finalized.
Will programs and events still be offered during construction?
Yes. While some programs may be reduced or adjusted, we plan to continue offering events and activities at alternate locations throughout the community. Our goal is to remain accessible and provide meaningful experiences even during construction.
Services such as printing, study rooms, computer access, tech help, CareerSource hours, and passive activities for all ages will continue at Centennial Park Library throughout construction.
Where will offsite programs and events take place?
We are partnering with neighboring library locations, such as South Holiday Library and Regency Park Library, to host programs and events. We will still offer a calendar of events that includes our events happening at other library branches as well as post updates on the website and social media.
