Which Library Card is Right for Me?

Full Access Library Card
  • Available to Pasco County residents ages 16+.
  • Must be renewed every 3 years.
  • Use this card to:
    • Reserve and borrow the complete collection of physical library materials
    • Access eBooks, eAudiobooks, and various e-content
    • Browse databases, education and career tools
    • Request Inter-Library Loans (ILL)
    • Borrow Discovery Museum Passes

 

Digital Library Card
  • Available to Pasco County residents ages 16+.
  • Must be renewed every 3 years.
  • Use this card to:
    • Access eBooks, eAudiobooks, and various e-content
    • Browse databases, education and career tools
  • This card does not include reserving, checking out and renewing physical library materials.

 

Non-Verified Library Card
  • Available to Pasco County residents ages 16+ when no proof of permanent address is presented at the time of library card registration.
  • Valid for 12 months. This card is unable to be renewed.
  • Use this card to:
    • Borrow two items at a time including hardcover and paperback books and magazines
    • Access eBooks, eAudiobooks, and various e-content
  • This card does not include borrowing of DVDs, video games, audiobooks, Library of Things (hotspots, adaptive toys, book club kits, etc.), Discovery Museum Passes, or Requesting Inter-Library Loans (ILL).

Pasco County Libraries is committed to supporting parents’ and guardians’ right and responsibility to guide their child's reading choices, and we encourage active participation in their library use. Parents and guardians have the following options when signing up or renewing their child’s library card.

 

Child Library Card
  • Available to Pasco County residents ages 0-15.
  • Must be renewed every 3 years by a parent or legal guardian.
  • Use this card to:
    • Reserve and borrow items from the juvenile collection including juvenile books, magazines, launchpads, movies, select Library of Things materials, and school reading materials as identified by Pasco School District.
  • This card does not include borrowing items outside the juvenile collection, except for school-required materials. Additionally, this card does not include access to eBooks, eAudiobooks, and various e-content or borrowing of video games, select Library of Things (hotspots, book club kits, etc.), Discovery Museum Passes, or requesting Inter-Library Loans (ILL).

Full Access Child Library Card
  • Available to Pasco County residents ages 0-15.
  • Must be renewed every 3 years by a parent or legal guardian.
  • Use this card to:
    • Reserve and borrow the complete collection of physical library materials
    • Access eBooks, eAudiobooks, and various e-content
    • Browse databases, education and career tools
    • Request Inter-Library Loans (ILL)
    • Borrow Discovery Museum Passes

 

As a parent or guardian, it is your responsibility to select and update your child’s library card appropriately to meet their needs. We encourage you to review the options and make any necessary updates by visiting a Pasco County Library location.

Reciprocal Borrower
  • Available to residents ages 16+ of nearby counties with a valid library card from a participating library system.
  • Must be renewed every 3 years. If cardholder is ages 0-15, the reciprocal library card must be renewed by a parent or guardian.
  • Use this card to:
    • Reserve and borrow the complete collection of physical library materials
  • This card does not include access to eBooks, eAudiobooks, various e-content, databases, Discovery Museum Passes, or Requesting Inter-Library Loans (ILL).

 

Reciprocal Borrower Child Limited
  • Available to child residents (ages 0-15) of nearby counties with a valid library card from a participating library system.
  • Must be renewed every 3 years by a parent or legal guardian.
  • Use this card to:
    • Reserve and borrow items from the juvenile collection including juvenile books, magazines, launchpads, and Juvenile movies, select Library of Things materials, and school reading materials as identified by Pasco School District.
  • This card does not include borrowing items outside the juvenile collection, except for school-required materials. Additionally, this card does not include access to eBooks, eAudiobooks, and various e-content or borrowing of video games, select Library of Things (hotspots, book club kits, etc.), Discovery Museum Passes, or requesting Inter-Library Loans (ILL).

 

Reciprocal Borrower Child
  • Available to child residents (ages 0-15) of nearby counties with a valid library card from a participating library system.
  • Must be renewed every 3 years by a parent or legal guardian.
  • Use this card to:
    • Reserve and borrow the complete collection of physical library materials
  • This card does not include access to eBooks, eAudiobooks, various e-content, databases, Discovery Museum Passes, or Requesting Inter-Library Loans (ILL).

Institutional Card
  • Available to private or public institutions within Pasco County upon approval by the Pasco County Library System Administrative Office.
  • Must be renewed every 3 years.
  • Use this card to:
    • Reserve and borrow the complete collection of physical library materials
    • Access eBooks, eAudiobooks, and various e-content
    • Browse databases, education and career tools
    • Request Inter-Library Loans (ILL)
    • Borrow Discovery Museum Passes

How to Apply for a Library Card

Visit a Pasco County library location to fill out a patron registration form and then present a valid ID with proof of a permanent Pasco County address. Acceptable forms of proof of permanent address include:

  • Unexpired Florida Driver's License
  • Florida Voter Registration
  • Pasco County Property Tax Receipt
  • Personal checkbook with street address printed on check
  • Utility or Telephone Bill in your name referencing a Pasco County address
  • Florida ID card
  • Certificate of Residency
  • Canceled mail in your name showing current address
  • Pasco County Business License
  • Pasco County Employee ID
  • Pasco School ID

Renew or Update Your Library Account

Library cards are set to expire periodically and must be renewed to allow library staff the opportunity to verify and update card holder registration information.

  • You can renew your card by visiting any Pasco County Library locations.
  • If your information hasn’t changed, you can call any Pasco County library location to renew your card. Please note, library cards for patrons ages 0-15 cannot be renewed over the phone.
  • To renew or make changes to a Child Library Card or Full Access Child Library Card, a parent or guardian must visit a library location in-person.
