Hoopla Update
Pasco Libraries continually evaluates the content, usage, and cost of our online resources and after careful consideration, we will be discontinuing the Hoopla streaming service on March 31, 2025.
We are committed to providing an excellent selection of online materials and while the Hoopla service has been appreciated for its convenience and variety, its pricing model makes it unsustainable for us to maintain. Pasco Libraries is excited to enhance both our digital and physical collection by reallocating resources to other platforms.

Why is Pasco Libraries discontinuing Hoopla?
- Pasco Libraries joins many other libraries across the country who have decided to discontinue Hoopla due to its unsustainable pricing model. Hoopla uses a cost-per-transaction business model, as opposed to a flat subscription fee, causing Pasco Libraries to pay more for increased use. This model is unsustainable and makes it difficult to properly budget for all of the resources and materials we aim to provide to patrons.
How much does Hoopla cost?
- Pasco Libraries is charged for every item a patron checks out, even if it's not used before it expires. This cost-per-transaction business model has become unsustainable as our Hoopla usage increases.
Where can I find eBooks and audiobooks?
- Libby/Overdrive offers eBooks, audiobooks, comics, and magazines. Download Libby and learn more.
Where can I stream movies and television?

What if I can’t find what I want to read on Libby?
- We encourage patrons to request an eBook or audiobook using the Libby “Notify Me” feature in the app. If the item is purchased, you’ll be notified that it’s available for checkout.
How to Use the Notify Me tool: - If you’d like to request physical items to be purchased, please visit your account and “Submit a Purchase Suggestion”.
I have to wait so long for my holds on Libby...
- By shifting our focus to Libby, we’ll be able to purchase more in-demand titles on Libby to meet customer demand and reduce wait time. Please keep in mind, our library service model is based on the principle of shared access and taking turns with borrowing materials.
