FAQ's

How Do I Borrow eContent?

To borrow eContent from Hoopla, CloudLibrary, or Libby/Overdrive, you will need to set up an account with each resource. Easily sign up to these resources with your library card.

Once setup, borrow eContent instantly through the catalog.

 

Hoopla

  1. Register on Hoopla: https://www.hoopladigital.com/register.
  2. Create your account with an email address and password.
    1. Hoopla password must be 8 characters long.
  3. Search Pasco County Library System.
  4. Enter your library card number and PIN.
    1. Your PIN by default is your last name in capital letters. Virtual card holders created their PIN upon registration.

 

CloudLibrary

  1. Visit Pasco's CloudLibrary: https://ebook.yourcloudlibrary.com/library/PascoCL/Featured
  2. Select 'Log In' in the upper right corner.
  3. Enter your library card number and select 'Log In'.

 

Libby/Overdrive

  1. Visit our Overdrive consortium: https://tblc.overdrive.com/tblc-pasco/content
  2. Select 'Sign In' in the upper right corner.
  3. Select Pasco County Library System as your library.
  4. Enter your library card number and select 'Sign In'.

 

Flipster

  1. Visit Flipster for Pasco County Library System: https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?authtype=ip,cpid&custid=s9047856&profile=eon
  2. In Patron ID enter your library card number.
  3. Select 'Sign In'.

 

Kanopy

  1. Visit Pasco's Kanopy and register: https://pascolibraries.kanopy.com/
  2. Select 'Add A Library Card'
  3. Enter your library card number and PIN. Select 'Continue'.
    1. Your PIN by default is your last name in capital letters. Virtual card holders created their PIN upon registration.
  4. Finish creating your account and select 'Sign Up'.

How Do I Register for a Virtual Library Card?

Residents of Pasco County, Florida who do not have a library card can register for a Digital Library Card. Digital cards allow for instant access to e-Resources.

Then, visit a library branch to receive your Full Access Library Card!

Signing Into the App

  1. Allow the app to search your library with location permissions or enter 'Pasco County Library System' in Find Your Library. Select your branch.
  2. Enter your Library card number and your PIN. Select 'Login'.
    1. Your PIN by default is your last name in capital letters.
      If you signed up for a virtual eCard, you created your PIN during registration.
  3. You are now signed in! Use the buttons at the bottom of the screen to navigate the app.

    3. Card: Access a digital copy of your Library Card

What is my Library PIN?

A Library PIN is used to Sign In and Validate your library account. Certain digital resources, such as Hoopla and Kanopy, require a Valid PIN to access and borrow digital materials.

  • Your Library PIN by default is your last name in capital letters.
    • If you changed your library PIN, be sure to update your PIN in eResources like Hoopla and Kanopy to borrow digital materials. 
  • Digital Library Card holders created their own PIN upon registration.

  

Need to Reset your PIN?

  1. In the Sign In screen, select 'Reset My Library PIN'.

  2. Then, enter your library card number or your email and select 'Reset My Pin'.
    1. Your account must have an email address associated with the library card.
    2. If an email is used for multiple accounts, enter the library card number and email address.
  3. An email will be sent to the email address to reset your PIN. The link to reset your PIN is valid for 2 days.
    1. If you do not receive an email within a few minutes, please check any spam folder your email service may have. If you do not receive any email, please contact any branch with your library card number.

You may also contact any Pasco Library branch. Please have your card number ready for assistance.

(WEB) Login to your account. In the Left sidebar, expand 'Account Settings' and select [Reset PIN].

Basics

How Do I Sign In/Out?
  1. (WEB) Select 'Sign In' in the upper right side

    (MOBILE) Select the Sign-in Icon below in the upper right side
  2. Enter your library card number and your PIN.
    1. Your PIN by default is your last name in capital letters.
    2. Virtual library card holders created their PIN during registration.

 

Sign Out

  1. Select the Menu Icon and select 'Sign Out' at the bottom of the menu.

 

Need to reset your PIN?

Select 'Reset My Library PIN'. Then, enter your library card number and your email and select 'Reset My Pin'. Your account must have an email address associated with the library card.

Don't have a Pasco library card?

Select 'Register for a Library Card' and fill in your information. Your Pasco e-Card gives you instant access to our digital resources, including eBooks and Audiobooks.

Where Can I See My Account Details?

Once logged in, you have 2 ways of finding your account details:

  1. (WEB) Select your name in the upper right corner.

    (MOBILE) Select the User icon in the upper right corner.

    A dropdown list will display with quicklinks to your account.
  2. Select the Menu Icon and select 'Your Account'.

(WEB) When selecting 'Your Account' you will be able to see an overview of your account.

At a glance, you will be able to see a summary of your checkouts, overdues, holds, and items ready for pickup. Select to view more information or choose from the sidebar on the left of the page.

(MOBILE) Select the User icon in the upper right corner to access more options.

How Do I Register for a Virtual Library Card?

Residents of Pasco County, Florida who do not have a library card can register for a Digital Library Card. Digital cards allow for instant access to e-Resources.

Where Can I Find Library Hours and Locations?
  1. Easily find the hours and locations by selecting the Menu Icon, then selecting 'Library Hours & Locations'.

    Directions and phone contact information are under each location.
  2. Hours and locations can also be found on our website.

Materials, Holds, & Checkouts

How Do I Search?
  1. In the search bar below the menu links, enter your desired search and select the 'Search' button.
    1. Select the dropdown menu to further refine your search by Series, Author, etc.
  2. Refine your search through many options:
    1. Selecting your desired format and availability above the search results
    2. Selecting from many categories in the left menu. Many options can be selected at once.
    3. To see more details on an entry, select the Title.

 

Searching by Accelerated Reader Level or Lexile Level

If available, the Accelerated Reader and Lexile levels will be displayed under the title.

Accelerated Reader

  1. Either using the left menu in a search or Advanced Search, enter your desired AR range. Include the full number range.
  • Kindergarten: 0.1 - 0.9
  • 1st Grade: 1.0 - 1.9
  • 2nd Grade: 2.0 - 2.9
  • 3rd Grade: 3.0 - 3.9
  • 4th Grade: 4.0 - 4.9
  • 5th Grade: 5.0 - 5.9
  • 6th Grade: 6.0 - 6.9

 

Lexile Measure

  1. Either using the left menu in a search or Advanced Search, enter your desired Lexile Level. Include the full number range without letters.
  • 2nd Grade: 107L - 545L
  • 3rd Grade: 415L - 760L
  • 4th Grade: 635L - 950L
  • 5th Grade: 770L - 1080L
  • 6th Grade: 855L - 1165L
  • 7th Grade: 925L +

 

Advanced Search

If necessary, Advanced Search can be used to further refine your results. Find Advanced Search by selecting the Menu icon in the top right corner.

Select Optional Filters for more options. Select Search Tips in the upper right hand corner for more information.

How Do I Place a Hold?
  1. Simply select 'Place Hold' next to the desired format of the title.
  2. For digital materials like eBooks, Audiobooks, and more, select 'Place Hold' next to the Digital Resource. For Overdrive holds, enter in an email to be notified when the hold is ready.

Digital and physical holds can be seen and managed in your account. View your holds to cancel, suspend, or find similar materials while you wait for your hold.

How Do I View My Checkouts?

View your checkouts by:

  1. Selecting the User Icon in right hand corner, and selecting [Your Checked Out Titles]
    User Icon is selected and Your Checked Out Titles is highlighted.

    OR

  2. Selecting the Menu Icon and selecting [Your Account]. Then, select [Your Checked Out Titles]
    Menu Icon is selected and Your Account is highlighted.
    (WEB) You may also select [Your Checked Out Titles] from the left sidebar.

The checkout menu will show physical and digital checkouts. Access and manage checkouts through this webpage.

How Long Can I Checkout Materials?

How Do I Request an Inter-Library Loan (ILL)?

(WEB) Request an Inter-Library Loan by selecting Services in the menu bar, then selecting Inter-Library Loan.

How Do I Submit and View my Purchase Suggestions?

Purchase Suggestions for Physical Materials

  1. Sign into your account by selecting 'Sign In' and enter your library card number and your PIN / Password.
    1. Your PIN by default is your last name in capital letters.
    2. Virtual card holders created their PIN upon registration.
  2. On your account home page, select 'Your Purchase Suggestions' in the left menu.
    (Mobile) Click the Person icon and select 'Your Purchase Suggestions' in the dropdown menu.
     

    1. Any of your previous purchase suggestions will be shown here.
  3. Select Submit a Purchase Suggestion to submit a new request.

How Do I Borrow eContent?

To checkout through Aspen, you'll need to link your library card to the eResources. Follow the instructions in the dropdown below for our currently available eResources.

  1. Create an account and sign in with the eResources. Sign in options may use your Library Card, Library PIN, or require you to use an email address and password.
  2. Checkout eContent by selecting 'Check Out' next to the resource.
  3. Confirm any prompts, your item is now checked out.

 

Accessing Digital Checkouts on Hoopla, Libby/Overdrive, and CloudLibrary

  1. Access any of your digital checkouts by visiting Your Account and selecting 'Checked Out'. From there, select 'Access Online'. Login with your account and instantly access your checkout.

 

Note: Overdues or an expired library card will block access to eContent. Please contact your nearest Pasco library branch for assistance.

How Do I Setup and Access Hoopla Digital?

Register for a Hoopla Account

  1. (WEB) Sign up by going to https://www.hoopladigital.com/register.
    (MOBILE) Open the Hoopla Digital App.
  2. Select [Let's Go] and search for Pasco County Library System in Find Your Library.
  3. Enter your library card number and Library PIN.
    1. Your PIN by default is your last name in capital letters. Virtual card holders created their PIN upon registration. If you've changed your PIN please enter into Library PIN.

  4. Enter an email address and password for login

 

Access Hoopla

Once your account is created, sign in with your email and password. Borrow Hoopla items through the catalog, webpage, or mobile app.

Use [Forgot email?] or [Forgot password?] options for login assistance.

 

Hoopla says my email has already been registered. What can I do?

Hoopla only allows 1 email to 1 library card. Please use a separate email to create a Hoopla account.

If you no longer have access to that email or it is unknown, please contact your nearest Pasco library branch with your library card for assistance.

NOTE: Overdues or an expired library card will block access to eContent. Please contact your nearest Pasco library branch with your library card number ready for assistance.

  

I'm logged into Hoopla but I am unable to borrow. What are my next steps?

There may be an issue with your settings in Hoopla, or, your Library Card may be expired or have an overdue item. Please try the following steps:

  1. Access your Hoopla Settings
  2. Select 'Library' or 'Library Settings'
  3. Enter your Library Card Number
  4. Enter your Library PIN
  5. Select [Save]

If you receive an error, please correct your Library Card Number or your Library PIN.

If you are still unable to borrow, your library card may be expired. With your card number ready, please call any Pasco Library branch for assistance.

How Do I Setup and Access CloudLibrary?

Website

  1. Visit CloudLibrary by going to the link: https://ebook.yourcloudlibrary.com/library/PascoCL/Featured
    1. Easy access this link by selecting 'eContent' in the menu bar or the Phone Icon (MOBILE).
    2. Select [Log In] by the upper right corner.
    3. Enter your library card number and select 'Log In'.

App

  1. Open the CloudLibrary App.
  2. Tap to continue and select the following:
    1. County: United States
    2. Select State/Region: Florida
    3. Select Library: Pasco County Libraries
  3. Select Next and enter your Library card number.

    How Do I Setup and Access Libby/Overdrive?

    App

    1. Open the Libby, by Overdrive App.
    2. In the prompt of 'Do you have a library card?' select Yes.
    3. Use one of the 3 methods to find the library: 1) Copy from another device, 2) Search for a Library, or 3) Guess My Library.
      1. If searching, enter 'Pasco County Library System' and select Tampa Bay Library Consortium
    4. Select 'Sign In With My Card'.
    5. Select Pasco County Library System.
    6. Enter your library card number and select Sign In.

    What is the Difference Between Libby and Overdrive?

    Libby and Overdrive are the same catalog with a different look and feel.

    Libby is a rebranded version of Overdrive with unique features. Materials checked out on Libby are the same as materials on Overdrive.

    Libby is user friendly and available to download as an App on many devices. On older devices, support for Overdrive has been discontinued in lieu of using Libby. Learn more in Libby's FAQ.

    Access Kanopy

    Once your account is created, sign in with your email and password to start streaming.

      

    I can't access my existing Kanopy account. What can I do?

    How Do I Import My Previous Lists From The Old Catalog?
    1. Sign in to your account through the button on the upper right corner.
    2. On the Your Account page, select 'Your Lists' in the left sidebar.
    3. Select 'Import From Old Catalog'.
    4. Your previous lists will load in after a period of time.
    How Do I Create and Share a List?

    Multiple lists can be created for your convenience. All lists are private by default.

    1. Under a search result, select the button 'Add to List'.
    2. Choose an existing list or select 'Create A New List'.
      1. Add a note for your records.

    Managing Your Lists

    1. Manage your list by selecting your name, then 'Your Lists'. You may also select 'Your Account' in the menu and then select 'Your Lists'.
    2. To add more titles to a list, simply select 'Add to list' under a title and select your desired list.

    Sharing Lists

    1. Select your desired list in 'Your Lists'. Select Edit at the top of the list.
    2. Under Access, change the access from Private to Public.
    3. Select Update.
    4. Copy the URL of the list and share!

    Shared lists are view only. Lists can be edited only by the author.

    How Do I Import My Existing Lists?
    1. Sign in to your account through the button on the upper right corner.
    2. On the Your Account page, select 'Your Lists' in the left sidebar.
    3. Select 'Import From Old Catalog'.
    4. Your previous lists will load in after a period of time.
    How Do I Create a Saved Search?

    A Saved Search allows you to save your commonly searched items. Your searches can be revisited in your Account Homepage or on a tab on the Home menu called 'Saved Searches'.

    Once created, any new results in your Saved Search will automatically update and show a 'New' badge.

    1. Type in your desired result and select 'Search'.
    2. OPTIONAL: Further refine your search with the categories in the lefthand side.
      1. Many options can be selected. Select the menu to see a dropdown of options, multiple options can be selected at once.
        1. For example, to get a format of Book with the Author J. K Rowling, select the desired options.
          1. Format: Book
          2. Author: Rowling, J. K
          3. Your selected Filters will be shown at the top of the categories.
    3. Once you're satisfied with the search results, select 'Search Tools' above the first result. Then, select Save Search.
    4. Enter a name for your Saved Search and select Save.

     

    Managing Saved Searches

    1. When logged in, select your name and select 'Your Searches' in the menu.
    2. Select the words under 'Search' to view the search. To delete the search, select 'Delete'.
    3. Manage other search functions in the same page.
    How Do I Download A List or Search?

    Download A Search

    1. While Searching, adjust your filters to your desired result. Multiple filters can be used as well as the 'Sort by' and Availability tabs above the first result.​​​​​
      1. In this example, we have Format/Item Type 'Large Print' selected.
        Sort by 'Publication Year Desc' is also selected to show the earliest Publication dates.
    2. On the right-hand side, click 'Search Tools' and 'Export to CSV' to download.
      On Mobile, tap the 'Search Tools' button.

    Download A List

    1. Go to 'Your Lists' and select your list or select an existing list.
    2. Above the first title, select 'Export List to CSV'.
    How Can I Get Recommendations?

    Automatically receive recommendations when you rate at least 5 titles. Rate titles by selecting a Star Rating under the photo of the cover.

    Once you've rated 5 titles, go to Your Account and your recommendations will be under 'Recommended for You'.

    You can also select 'You May Also Like' under any checked out titles or 'While You Wait' for titles that are currently on hold.
