This program is intended for adults and teens who have previous handwork experience. This is a time to bring your own project and meet with others who enjoy handwork: crocheting, knitting, counted cross stitch, hand sewing, paper arts, etc. Our volunteer, Margarita, will be available to assist with crochet projects. Registration is not required. All Makerspace programs require closed-toe shoes and completed Foundry Waiver & Safety Playbook forms. This activity is intended for ages 18 years and older (or youth age 9 years and older with an accompanying guardian). Open Build is an opportunity to use our tools to work on your approved project. Volunteers or staff will be on hand to assist. Bring your own plans and materials. At this time we also are offering beginners the opportunity to use the lathe to turn a pen (materials for 1st pen included) and for more experienced lathe users to turn a rolling pin (materials for 1st rolling pin included). For those interested in creating a birdhouse we have materials available while they last. All Makerspace activities require closed toe shoes and completed Foundry Waiver & Safety Playbook forms. These can be acquired at the Service Desk or online at https://www.pascolibraries.org/makerspaces/the-foundry/Minors forms must be completed by a parent/guardian. Foundry
The Foundry offers classes each month related to woodworking, sewing, jewelry making, etc. The makerspace provides sewing machines, crafting items, tools, and much more!
Using the Foundry
- Patrons have the option of using the Foundry in one of two ways.
- Those patrons already familiar or trained on the equipment can sign up for an Open Build appointment to work on their own projects using their own materials. A volunteer or staff member is present to assist with questions. Appointments are available on our calendar.
- Patrons can also sign up in advance for a class taught by an instructor. All materials are provided during our classes.
- Please note a signed liability waiver is required for any activity in the Foundry makerspace.
Age Requirements

The Foundry may be used by patrons 9 years and older. Certain equipment and classes are limited to ages 18 years and older.

A library staff member or volunteer will be present at all times when The Foundry is in use.
Foundry Waiver and Playbook
- Pasco County Liability Waiver and Permission Form: This waiver must be consented to, and signed by the participant - and parent/guardian if applicable - before use of space is permitted.
- Maker Safety Playbook: This playbook must be consented to, and signed by the participant - and parent/guardian if applicable - before use of space is permitted.
