On display at the Hudson Library • The 12 European Art Masters

I did a series of 12 self-portraits inspired by such famous European artists to give other artists the opportunity to indulge themselves to do portraits of themselves in some artistic parodies in their favorite art master style and in their own medium. These masters include: Claude Monet, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Georges Seurat, Henri Rousseau, Amedeo Modigliani, Vincent van Gogh, Edgar Degas, Augusts Renoir, Paul Cezanne, Paul Gauguin, Pablo Picasso, and Leonardo da Vinci.

Artist Name: Peter Colangelo

On display at the New River Library

I am Peter Colangelo. I am a retired United States Congressman and independent artist. I have a passion for pencil/ink drawings, and an expertise in watercolor.
"All I ever wanted to be was an artist," said Colangelo, who has worked in oils, watercolor and most recently, pen and ink. "I am primarily self-taught, and now that I am retired, I love that I have time to draw every single day."

Colangelo spent his early years working for the State of New York as an accountant, and moved to the Boston area in his 30's, where he dedicated his life to the arts. He exhibited his work in local galleries and worked for a time at the Museum of Fine Arts framing artwork. During this period, he painted primarily in watercolor scenes of the beach, sea, flowers and other natural shapes.
In 2001, Colangelo moved to Zephyrhills and bought a home next to his mother in Betmar Acres, where he spent the final two years of her life having fun and providing care. He then took a 10 year hiatus from art and worked at the Zephyrhills Walmart. Colangelo was gainfully employed at Walmart for 15 years until his retirement. Toward the end of his career, Colangelo began to draw and paint again, and in recent years has focused on pen and ink drawings.
He describes his work as futuristic and intricate, with detailed drawings falling somewhere between M.C. Escher and Salvador Dali.

"I have created over 800 drawings in the past four years, and I'm so excited to be sharing my work with the community. I've waited my entire life to have a one-man show, and this is such an honor, and so humbling," said Colangelo, who is 73 years old.

Artist Name: Jennifer Seney

On display at the South Holiday Library

Jennifer L. Seney was born in New Rochelle, N.Y.  At age 13 an art teacher encouraged her to illustrate some short stories she wrote … it was a glimpse into something exciting. But life … being what it is … led her away from art until years later. She graduated from the University of Colorado at Denver. She stayed in Colorado for 26 years before coming to Florida in 1995. Retiring from Pasco County government in 2018, she rediscovered her love of art. She primarily works in oil and colored pencil. Her subject matter ranged from wildlife to landscapes and portraits.

Starkey Ranch Theatre Library Cultural Center

Artist Name: Stacey Greene

On display at the Starkey Ranch TLC • Energy Art

Energy art is a term used to describe artistic expressions that seek to capture, represent, or channel energy—whether physical, emotional, or spiritual—through various mediums. It often aims to convey the invisible forces that shape our lives, such as the flow of energy in the body, the rhythm of the natural world, or the connections between people and the universe. The idea of energy in art is also tied to the belief that art can be a transformative force, capable of shifting the viewer's perception or emotional state, much like how energy influences the environment or the body.
