Artist: Darla Durrett

On display at the New River Library

Art has been part of Darla Durrett’s life as long as she can remember. Her art continues to evolve and she enjoys creating from what she sees - “the world is beautiful and there are surprises everywhere”. Darla uses art as an outlet for her creative energy, translating what she sees onto paper and canvas, keeping her grounded and focused. During her early nursing career, she drew the systems of the human body to understand function and their location.

Darla has a love of nature and finds animals fascinating. Although she does not have a favorite medium, she is currently enjoying using colored pencils and acrylic paints. She continues to learn and grow by taking classes, reading up on techniques, working with local artists and participating in community art opportunities.

Mission Possible: Water for Tomorrow | On display at the South Holiday Library

Each piece in this display was created by a Pasco County student as part of the 16th annual Water Awareness Poster Contest. The contest is a water conservation initiative led by Pasco County Utilities and the Florida Governmental Utility Authority (FGUA), with support from the District School Board of Pasco County.

The 2025 contest embraced the theme Mission Possible: Water for Tomorrow, inspiring 1,111 entries from 14 schools, 42 teachers, and one home schooler. Since 2010, nearly 22,500 students have explored the importance of water conservation through STEAM-focused program materials, then transformed their knowledge into powerful visual messages. Their artwork reflects the creativity, care, and commitment of our young environmental stewards. Let their voices remind us: protecting our water is a mission we all share.

Artist: Ashley Urban

European Masters Series | On display at the Starkey Ranch TLC

Ashley Urban is a well-known artist in Tarpon Springs, who does not let anything stand in the way of her dreams. Ashley has presented her work at the West Pasco Art Guild, Dunedin Fine Art Center, and Paint the Town Citrus in Carrollwood. Among her many talents, Ashley is a skilled painter and marvelous harp player. Ashley’s interest in art and music developed after being diagnosed with high functioning autism. Her creative skills have enabled her to work professionally as an artist.

Her European Masters Series explores self-portraiture through the work of famous European artists. She hopes this series inspires other artists to indulge themselves to do portraits in some artistic parodies in their favorite art master style and in their own medium. These masters include Claude Monet, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, George’s Seurat, Henri Rousseau, Amedeo Modigliani, Vincent Van Gogh, Edgar Degas, Augusts Renoir, Paul Cezanne, Paul Gauguin, Pablo Picasso, Leonardo da Vinci, Wassily Kandinsky, Gustav Klimt, and René Magritte.
