Position Overview and Impact:
The Adult Literacy tutoring program is currently offered at the New RIver and Hugh Embry Branch Libraries. Tutors will receive a training session, support materials, and staff support. This extremely important service will help members of our community to improve their literacy skills. Tutors can meet with learners in a group or in one-to-one sessions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend a training session
- Participate in organizing, setting up, and running Conversation Corner sessions
- Participate in one-to-one tutoring sessions
- Commit to one year of service with a flexible schedule
Qualifications:

Be 18 yrs of age or older

Be a self starter and work without close supervision

Interact and communicate successfully with others
- Have a positive attitude and a willingness to advocate on behalf of the library
