Position Overview and Impact:
The Library Docent provides a positive experience to our patrons as they come into the library to obtain a library card, check out materials, use our computers or find out what services the library offers. For many patrons, this will be their first time entering a public library and it is our goal and vision that they have a posi- tive experience so they will want to return often and become patrons for life.
Key Responsibilities:

Greet and welcome patrons

Assist with new library card application process

Give informal tours of the library and help patrons find materials

Assist patrons with basic computer questions such as how to reserve a computer, where and how to use the card catalog

Ability to work independently

Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Minimum Age: 14

People orientated and friendly
-
Positive customer service focus with good communication skills

Must be able to be on their feet for the majority of their shift

Self starter, after training
Training and support provided:
- Orientation, training and mentoring is provided
Time Commitment:
- One ‘two (2) hour shift’ per week
