Position Overview and Impact:

Makerspaces are free do-it-yourself centers where you can create, learn design, experiment, and build. Each library branch has its own version of a makerspace and volunteers with specific skills are needed in each branch. See our website for the types of activities offered at our various locations. High tech or low tech, Makerspaces are all about hands-on discovery and imagination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist makerspace instructors or staff with set up and cleanup of makerspace programs
  • Assist with organization and maintain cleanliness of makerspace tools, areas, and equipment
  • Assist patrons during programs if needed with supplies, tools, etc.
  • Assist with program or material preparation including cutting, preparing, sorting, or organizing materials, sometimes using special equipment
  • Report any issues in the makerspace during or outside of a program to the Makerspace Coordinator or a staff member
  • Ensure all makerspace program participants have required Safety and Liability Waivers on file
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Required: Safety and Liability Waiver on file
  • Be a self-starter and work without close supervision
  • Interact and communicate successfully with others
  • Must be attentive and able to follow written or oral directions
  • Must be punctual, reliable, and have a positive attitude
