Hudson Regional Library Renovation Project

We’re excited to share that the Hudson Regional Library will be undergoing a much-needed renovation! Below are answers to some of the most common questions we're hearing about this project.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is Hudson Regional Library being renovated?

Hudson Regional Library is long overdue for a full remodel. Unlike our other branches, this building has not yet received a major renovation. The roof has significant leaks (you may have noticed the buckets placed throughout the library!), and critical systems like lighting, air conditioning, and plumbing need to be replaced or upgraded. This renovation will allow us to fix these problems and bring the building up to modern standards creating a safer, more welcoming, and more inspiring space for everyone.

Will the library close while it’s being renovated?

Yes, the library will be temporarily closed during construction for safety and efficiency. We understand this is an inconvenience, but the end result will be a vastly improved library experience.

When will the library close?

The last day Hudson Regional Library will be open is November 1, 2025.

When will it reopen?

We anticipate reopening in late 2027, and we’ll keep the community updated on progress via our website and social media.

How are the renovations being paid for?

The Hudson Regional Library remodel project is funded by the Pasco County Board of County Commissioners as a capital project in its 2025-26 budget.

How can I check out books or use library services?

All other Pasco County library branches will be open and maintaining their regular hours. You can:

  • Use your library card at any branch
  • Place holds online and choose another location for pickup. The Regency Park Library is the next closest location. The address is 9701 Little Rd, New Port Richey.
  • Access our full digital library collection 24/7
  • Attend your favorite programs and events at another library location

What happens to the Hudson library staff during this time?

Our Hudson Regional staff are still here to help! They’ll be temporarily assigned to other library branches, continuing to serve our community.

Our administrative offices, currently housed at Hudson, will also be relocated to other library and county facilities. While they won't be based at Hudson during construction, their work supporting the library system will continue uninterrupted.

What can I look forward to when the library reopens?

We’re building a better library for you. The renovated Hudson Regional Library will include:

  • A fully modernized, reimagined interior
  • A refreshed collection of books and materials for browsing
  • Dedicated spaces for adults, teens, and children
  • Expanded meeting and collaboration rooms

  • Better lighting, accessibility, and energy efficiency
  • Beloved features such as the wooden floors and natural light will be retained to honor the building’s character
